A hoper, a prayer, a magic-bean buyer
If you're a pretender come sit by my fire
For we have some flax-golden tales to spin

Teaser Tuesday Again...

Wow. These weeks are just flying by! I can't believe it's almost Christmas!! As soon as I'm done my current book, (which is very dark) I need something LIGHT, romantic and Christmasy. If anyone has ANY recommendations--especially if they are YA--I'd really appreciate it!!

So, it's Teaser Tuesday again, hosted by SHOULD BE READING

To play along, all you have to do is:

• Grab your current read
• Open to a random page
• Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that
 page
• BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure
that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t
want to ruin the book for others!)
• Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants
can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your tease

Last week, I said I was going to review my Teaser Tuesday books, but only if I'm done reading them. I'm only halfway through this one, so I can't say if I'm going to like it or not, but--so far--it's really good.

I worry. because he's little and he seems very fragile and because...because something in this hotel seems to want him. And it will go through us to get him if it has to. That's why we must get him out, Jack. I know that! I feel it! We must get him out!"

I know this is a really old book and a lot of people have already read it. It's funny, I'm a HUGE King fan, but I never picked this one up. Now I'm glad I did. The book is dark, but I love Danny and Wendy. The way Stephen King makes us feel sympathy for Jack, and then turns him into the villain is some of the best writing I've ever read. I hear he's writing a sequel to this one. Anyone know anything about that?

What about you guys? Reading anything good this week? Any recommendations?

  1. I've never read Stephen King but I've considered it. If I do, I might have to try this one out.

I'm currently reading Mothstorm which is light and fun...but not Christmasy so I am not help there. Actually...come to think of it, I don't know of any Christmasy books. This might be a problem.

    1. You've NEVER read Stephen King? That's...not allowed. haha. Not for a writer. Seriously, you have to read him. King is the master of creating amazing characters. I know he's not "critically acclaimed" but he's one of the best writers I've ever read. I'd recommend starting with The Stand, it's one of his best books. The Shining was awesome too...but very dark. But, if you like dark/horror its a good one!

Personally, I say screw the critics. I'd way rather be like Stephen King and write books that everyone loves that please a group of snobby critics. haha

    1. I haven't read much non-fiction that I loved, but every now and then I'll come across a good one. What's this one about?

  3. I just finished Days of Blood and Starlight, the second book in the Daughter of Smoke and Bone series. It was SOOOOO good that I'm having trouble figuring out what to read next. I think I'm going through withdrawal.

Anyways, highly recommend it if you haven't read it. Now I just need to find something to quench my awesome book thirst...

    1. I heard that ended on a huge cliffhanger. I LOVED Daughter of Smoke and Bone, but I was a little reluctant to read Days of Blood and Starlight if it ended badly, or left me hanging. Does it wrap up at all? Should I read it now, or wait until the sequel is coming out?

And, as far as book recommendations go, have you read Angelfall by Susan Ee? Soooo good!!! That's another one that ends without things resolved, but it's a good stopping point. Seriously one of the better books I've read. Just non-stop action. Some romance. Great villains. If you haven't read it, you should definitely check it out!

    1. Your welcome, Sarika! It was a really good book. And, it turns out that I had good timing in reading it--even though it was written thirty-six years ago, Stephen King is currently working on the sequel. Yay! :)

    1. It's definitely time!! He's amazing. I'd highly recommend The Stand is excellent, along with IT, Misery and Bag of Bones. I love all his books, but those would be easy ones to start with. :)

  10. I love King (and all Horror), but sometimes his books are too creepy even for me. Sometimes it's hard to find a character you love and can root for because ALL of them are dark and twisted. I'm glad you liked Wendy and Danny though. :-)

    1. Yeah, some of his stuff is REALLY dark. But Wendy and Danny (especially Danny) were the type you had to root for!
