I want to start by saying thanks so much to Heather
Bryant for tagging me! Make sure you guys check out her awesome website, "Into the Cuckoo's Nest"
Now, onto the questions about my WIP. :)
What is the working title of your book?
Haha…Well, a lot of my followers already know, since
they helped me choose it. I had three choices but, in the end, I decided to go
with: AGAINST THE FALLING MOONS
Where did the idea come from for the book?
I’ve always loved really strong romances and I liked
the idea of a guy pining away for the girl he loves, rather than the other way
around-- which is more typical for YA. I also really loved the idea of a
character who was lost and needed help finding herself. I figured how much more
lost could you be than if you came here from a whole other world, but had no
idea what had happened? So I put those things together and out came my book.
What genre does your book fall under?
I’ve been
querying it as a YA light sci-fi romance. It also has a dash of paranormal and
fantasy (although I’m not including that in the query)
Which actors would you choose to play your
characters in the movie rendition?
(It's make-believe, so I'm allowed to make him younger.)
Fen's best friend, Sin, would be Logan Lerman:
And, more importantly than any of those, Digger the dog would be played by this big guy:
What is a one sentence synopsis of your book?
When Auri falls through a rip her world and lands on
Earth, her memory is erased. Luc risks his life to find her, but she no longer
knows him. (I know that's two sentences. I cheated.)
Will your book be self-published or represented by
an agent?
I’d love to
have an agent but, if push comes to shove, I’m willing to consider other
alternatives.
How long did it take you to write the first draft of
your manuscript?
About six months.
What else about your book might pique the reader's interest?
The fact that the so-romantic, extremely-hot Fen is willing to do anything to save the girl he loves, even risk permanent banishment from his home to travel to Earth and find her.
Small excerpt:
Seria’s
the most important part of who I am. There’s no risk I won’t take, no chance,
however small, I won’t grasp. If she doesn’t return with me, it won’t matter if
I’m banished. Without her, my life seems pointless and purposeless, like I’m
nothing but a gaping hole that walks and talks, but holds nothing real inside
it.
My turn to pass it on!!
Tag! You're it!
Oh my, Digger the Dog - Zac Efron is no competition. And I totally know who MacKenzie Foy is as well because that girl is just far too cute. Awesome pick for your MC.
ReplyDeleteThat excerpt was really good. It certainly piqued my interested!
Thanks Heather!
DeleteI just went back and changed McKenzie Foy's pic because I was afraid people wouldn't read it and they'd think I wanted a little girl playing opposite Zach Efron. yuck. haha
This was fun, thanks for tagging me :)
Ooh... that is awkward. But Lydia is super cute too so all good.
DeleteHAHA! These guys are the EXACT TWO I was picturing after reading your 150. I’m not even kidding. :D
ReplyDeleteThat's SO cool! I loved that picture of Logan Lerman, cause he looks kind of like a mischievous trouble maker in it, which is SO Sin.
DeleteHi Tamara,
ReplyDeleteI wanted to thank you for your critique of my query pitch and first 150. I appreciate your feedback! (My entry was #66 Soul Mountain)
Great answers here. Your ms has an awesome title. I love it! It's nice to meet you!
Nice to meet you too! I love your story concept!! Mine is written in dual POV's too, but I chose to take the easy way out and just focus on one of them for the query. haha
DeleteHe he. Thanks and I like your picks. :) I will be posting my tag soon. You're so sweet to think of me.
ReplyDeleteThanks. BTW I want to read your book. I'm intrigued.
You're welcome!! I just got into GUTGAA Agent Pitch today, so-hopefully-an agent will be intrigued as well. :)
DeleteLike the science fiction aspect of it!
ReplyDeleteI have to admit that it's light sci-fi, but I had a ton of fun writing it. My wordcount got a little out of control at one point, so I had to cut out some of my heavier sci-fi scenes. (but I kept them all to post on my "extras" page when I have tons of fans) ;)
DeleteThanks so much for taking the time to visit my query draft and give me some valuable comments at GUTGAA!

DeleteJust wanted to stop by and say thanks so much for giving me your thoughts on my query and 1st 150 on GUTGAA! Figured I'd check out your blog, because I'm a fairly new blogger too. I'm following now. Hop by mine, if you have the time. :D

DeleteStopping by thanks to GUTGAA and the Blog Hop is great....looking for your first 150 and would love it if I could get a critique on mine.....wishing you a great weekend and I love the color of our blog background! Muaaah!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to take a look at your first 150...is it on your blog? Or up on GUTGAA somewhere? Let me know and I'll check it out. Yeah, pink is one of my fave colors. I'm such a girl. haha
DeleteFrom one tag to another! I love your casting choice for the dog...he looks perfect!!
ReplyDeleteWanted to let you know you've been tagged on my blog for a Reader Appreciation award! =)
Oh, wow. That's awesome. My first award. :) And I love that dog too. He's exactly how I picture the dog in my book--only Digger's spots are blue.
