If you're a dreamer, a wisher, a liar
A hoper, a prayer, a magic-bean buyer
If you're a pretender come sit by my fire
For we have some flax-golden tales to spin
Come in...come in...

Wow. Four out of Four

So, before going to bed, I did what I always do--I checked my query that's up on Deana Barnhart's site  for the small press pitch. There were four judges, and I got four votes to go through to the next round!!! Very nice confidence booster.

Now, mind you, I already did this once--on the agent pitch I got two votes and then a tie-breaker third allowing me to go through to the final round. Once IN the final round, I didn't get anything. So, I'm trying not to get my hopes too high, but it's really hard!

In other news, I've been blogging regularly since I started this. I know nobody is sitting around waiting for my blog's to pop up, (or, if you are, that's kind of creepy. haha). I just thought I'd mention that I'll be offline for most of the next week. I'll stop in when I can. I really want to see how my fellow GUTGAA'ers are doing. But I probably won't be steadily online or posting for about a week.

I'll miss you guys! I love having my blog to look forward to. And, I'm still planning a hundred followers contest, I've just been super busy, but I'll let everyone know when it is. One last question before I go...

How do you guys deal with something like this? When things seem really promising, but you don't want to hope too much because it never seems to work out? Please give me some tips to keep me from driving myself crazy.

Also, if you haven't already, please don't forget to vote for my PONY while I'm gone. haha. Me and my daughter really love our pony--so we're taking our PonyFest votes extremely seriously. I'd appreciate it immensely if you'd click the link and, if you like our pony, make sure to leave a vote!! :)

Thanks everyone, I'll miss you guys! I'm off to my nephew's wedding. Sixteen hours in the car from Southeast GA to upstate PA. To make the ride more fun, my two year old grandson, who happens to be sick and fairly miserable right now, is riding with us. *wince* Wish me luck!! haha. I'm gonna need it!

  1. Oh wow. Congrats on getting all four votes.
I've gotten two votes this round (infinitely better than the zero it got last time). And there's still a tie-breaker to go though, so my nerves are shot. Makes me wish tomorrow came quickly and, then again, not at all.

Did I ever thank you for helping me polish my query? If I have, then I'd like too again. Pretty sure it's the reason why my entry has gotten this far. ^_^

  5. Congrats on your votes! Awesome.

Going to check out your pony in a sec.

Good luck with the drive up - especially in the gross weather the east coast is having currently. And with the sick grandkid? Two words: Tylenol 3. :) j/k

    1. Haha...I had no idea how to figure that out. It said nine but then I counted way more, so I was confused. Did you end up getting through?

    1. Blogger seems to eat a lot of my comments! It's annoying. Congrats to you too! Looks like we'll be on pins and needles together. It looks like your luck changed though. Mine seems to have changed as well! Fingers crossed, right?

  8. Congrats on getting to the next round! So, to answer your question, I hope with abandon. I put all of my thoughts and energy into what I'm hoping for and not allowing for negative thoughts to seep in as much as possible--sometime they make it past the gate, thought. But even with my hopes so high, I know that should I not get what I want, what I was hoping for, it's not the end of my life. Something better will come along. Yeah, it may stink, but I try to keep my mind off the negative outcome and concentrate on what I want. Someone once told me I had a load of sunshine crammed up my butt! LOL. Maybe I do, but it keeps me warm! Going over to vote for your pony! Email me. We haven't talked in a while and I miss you :-(

    1. Thanks Kar!

I'm out of town right now, but I found a few minutes to hop on my blog. And I like your advice. Very good advice. I'd rather hope with abandon and be disappointed than forget how to hope. Besides, I'm a big believer in getting back what you put out. So here's me--HOPING!!

AND...I won the kiss/kiss off!! Turns out someone was cheating (A LOT) so they had to turn the whole thing over to an agent and let her be an unbiased judge of the last four finalists. She chose me as the winner, which gets me a twenty page agent critique--hopefully she'll want to keep reading but, if not, at least she has to tell me why and I can try to fix it.

Thanks for voting for my pony!

  9. I hope your time off is nice and relaxing. And congratulations on the four votes! That is very exciting. I know what you mean though, about not wishing to get your hopes too high. I have that problem. I'd offer help, but I've not figured it out for myself. I hope you make it another round though! But if not, four of four is VERY good. 8-D

    1. Yeah, I'm really hoping it turns into a couple requests but, if nothing else, this gave me a lot more confidence in my query. :)

    1. Thanks Rebecca!

By the way, when is the pony contest over? I'm supposed to be trying to get votes for that, right? Cause I have been, but I noticed I didn't really see any votes on other people's blogs, so then I was worried. Is it anyone who can vote, or just other people in the contest? Sorry about all the questions, haha. Thanks for coming by!!
